Ticket Types and Priorities
To make life easier for everyone, Dig|Safely. New York has the ability to classify several
different types of requests based on several criteria. The resulting classification
is called the Priority of the notice.
Priorities are a wonderful thing... they allow us to create
rulesets for destinations, meaning we can route specific ticket
types to the right place, at the right time.
At present, Dig|Safely. New York identifies and assigns the following types / priorities:
- Emergency Tickets:
This type of ticket means the excavator is going to start their digging within 0
to 4 hrs, AND the dig is to resolve a threat to life, property or vital utility.
- Priority Tickets:
This type of ticket means the excavator is going to start their digging within 0
to 4 hrs, and the dig IS NOT to resolve a threat to life, property or vital utility.
- Insufficient Tickets:
This type of ticket means the excavator is giving more than 4 hours, but less than
2 full working days of lead-time.
- Regular (legal) Tickets:
This type of ticket means the excavator is going to start the digging after
2 full working days.
- Design Tickets:
This type of ticket typically is not relevent to a maintenance group; the caller
is planning a layout of some type and needs to know where your facilities are and
will be in the future. If you have one, you will typically route these to
an engineering, planning and design group within your organization.
- Gas Emergency Tickets:
This type of ticket indicates an excavator has hit or has discovered a gas pipe,
and believes there may be a gas leak. These tickets are normally sent to gas utilities
only, and they are not a substitute for calling 911.
