Excavator Safety Seminar Invitation

2019 Seminar & Certified Excavator Program Hybrid Experience

This year, the Excavator Safety Seminars will cover 90% of the Dig Safely New York Certified Excavator Program in Safe Digging Best Practices educational curriculum. Dig Safely New York established this Certified Excavator Program in an effort to increase comprehensive and situational-based educational opportunities for excavators in the industry. The program was also a catalyst for the newly passed legislation. Launched in 2015, the program has been sculpted to flexibly deliver quality, in-depth training, and is an interactive course that may be taken in-person or online. This certification combines various learning styles, including audio, visual, and hands-on exercises that allow participants to apply their knowledge into situations and obstacles that could be encountered in the field.

The 2019 Excavator Safety Seminars will take attendees through the first two (2) of the three (3) sections of the Certified Excavator Program. The interactive lecture and discussion will be approximately two (2) hours in length and requires audience participation. There will be a break within the first portion of the program. The seminars will continue with the Utility Panel and lunch, but the Review Game will be a scenario-based activity that will require attendees to use the knowledge they have and learned within the first portion of the program to accomplish.

The seminar is free to attend. Following the completion of the day, anyone who wishes to finish the certification program, for $25, will be entered into a special online course to complete the course assessment and evaluation. The assessment is 20-multiple choice questions, and requires a passing score of 80% (16/20 correct). Once passed, students must complete and submit a course evaluation before being given access to their certificate of completion. Those who take this third step after attending the Excavator Safety Seminar will be certified through the course requirements.
